Being Green means a lot more than just using environmentally friendly cleaning solutions. It means taking a comprehensive approach to all facets of our cleaning programs to ensure green & sustainable practices. The areas where CSG has initiated Green measures include but are not limited to chemicals, equipment, consumables, water and energy use and LEED certification.
CSG has partnered with ONE Cleaning Solution to meet some of our needs for Green Cleaning solutions.
ONE is the manufacturer of a multi-purpose cleaning product which is peroxide based and is environmentally friendly.
Because this solution is highly concentrated and replaces the need for multiple different cleaning chemicals it provides the additional benefit of reducing shipping needs and
lowering the carbon footprint of CSG's overall cleaning program.
CSG takes a comprehensive approach to meeting our customer's needs and does not assume that there is a single solution for the chemical program implemented with each customer.
CSG has additional options for Green Cleaning including the Active Ion system which uses electrically treated tap water with no other ingredients to provide chemical free cleaning. Both of these solutions dramatically reduce the likelihood of medical expenses or lost -time by janitorial staff due to chemical-related injuries.
The green cleaning solutions also reduce our customer's staff to exposure to harmful cleaning chemicals and can improve indoor air quality.
CSG maintains industry best practices and a continuous improvement process. Through these processes, CSG has identified the latest advances in green cleaning equipment. One example is the Tennant EC H2O automatic scrubber which uses electrically converted water to eliminate the need for floor cleaning chemicals entirely. The EC H2O scrubber not only eliminates the environmental impact of producing, packaging, transporting using and disposing of traditional cleaning chemicals, it also uses 70% less water than conventional scrubbing methods. CSG recognizes that every cleaning program is different and our customers needs vary greatly. CSG has options which include bag less HEPA filtered vacuums reducing waste and improving indoor air quality. CSG offers environmentally friendly carpet extraction technology as well. This carpet extraction technology uses our environmentally friendly ONE Cleaning Solution as an emulsifying pre-spray and then uses soft water technology during the extraction process so that no chemicals are added to the extractor solution tank. This process leaves clean residue-free carpets that are the proper PH so that new soils are less likely to be attracted to the carpet fibers. CSG employs the use of microfiber technology in our mopping systems, window cleaning and dusting / surface wiping. The use of microfiber provides enhanced cleaning performance while reducing the amount of cleaning solutions required. In addition, micro-fiber can be laundered hundreds of times, reducing waste.
CSG can provide recycled content paper products, trash liners and health-friendly soap products that do not contain any harsh chemicals such as the anti-bacterial agent Triclosan. CSG staff are trained to minimize waste by adhering to best practices including the use of recommended dilutions of green chemicals and frequency of replacement for liners. Hands free dispensers can reduce paper usage by delivering pre-metered paper amounts and green air drying are also options we help educate our customers on.Hands free toilet and sink options can also reduce the amount of cleaning solution needed and level of surface contamination, providing on overall healthier indoor environment.
CSG utilizes equipment with lower water requirements such as the EC H2O scrubber where applicable. CSG has the ability to provide waterless urinal maintenance helping our customers to dramatically reduce their facilities water usage on an annual basis. CSG can also optimize staffing levels to reduce energy use. This is typically done by shifting to multiple cleaning staff in the morning rather than one cleaner overnight, reducing the energy use in the building. There are also options to provide timed cleaning zones allowing areas of the building to automatically shut lights off earlier in the evening. CSG carefully evaluates each customer's needs to determine the areas of facility maintenance which can most effectively help our customers reduce and better manage energy and water.
As more of CSG's customers move towards LEED certification for their facilities, we are increasingly looked upon to help our customers earn points toward certification. CSG will help you ensure that maximum points are earned by providing the proper chemical, equipment and practices needed to meet LEED requirements. CSG management are versed on LEED requirements for new and existing buildings and keep abreast of developments within the USGBC (U.S. Green Building Council) which affect our customers facility decisions.
